Product Information

NXT Metal Primer is is designed as a primer for new and weathered steel, galvanized, zincalume, aluminum, lead, copper and pre-coated metal sheeting.

NXT Metal Primer is an acrylic coating, which demonstrates exceptional adhesion to a range of substrates including metal and masonry surfaces. The coating provides good chemical resistance, weather ability and ease of application by brush, roller or airless spray.

It is suitable for new and older galvanized metal, in fact it is right for any & all metal roofing. Its versatility in this area means it can also be used as a primer over Colour bond and other coated metal sheet roofing products.

This primer is supplied standard in a Light-Gray color or White and is suitable for top-coating with all NXT top coats including NXT Cool Zone®.

APPLICATION AND USAGE AMOUNT*

• Use 0.6 Gal. per 100 Sq. Ft.*
• Usage amount will vary depending upon how old or dry the roofs are.

1. The surface should be cleaned to remove all contaminants and dirt and any loose coating. A suitable surface is usually achieved using a high pressure water cleaner (greater than 2500 PSI).

2. If new galvanised sheets are heavily contaminated with oil and machine lubricants, the surface must be washed with a suitable degreaser or solvent before coating.

NXT Metal Primer used for metal roof sheeting must be overcoated with NXT Cool Coat or other NXT water-based coating suitable for extended exposure. NXT Metal Primer is availabe in both White and Light Gray colors. White Metal Primer is recommened when using White colored NXT Cool Zone to maximize infrared light reflection.

Product Limitations

The primer is not recommended for coating over high gloss coatings on metal sheet roofing. Surfaces primed with NXT Metal Primer perform exceptionally under conditions of hot, cold and wet weather, provided they are correctly cleaned and top coated with a suitable protective finish.
 
 
Application on non-porous substrates, including metal sheeting, requires adequate curing of this product before top-coating.
